- Prayer in the Season of Lent – The season of Lent will soon be upon us. Ash Wednesday marks the start of the Lenten season on March 5. Catherine de la Cruz, a missionary with Overseas Missionary Fellowship (OMF) will be our guest speaker. She will share her experiences while in Cambodia. Everyone is welcome to hear this inspirational woman.
- "Son of God" Movie – There is a new movie just out in theatres that is very appropriate as we enter the season of Lent and Easter. It is called “Son of God” and
it depicts the life of Jesus from the Gospels. The Dove Foundation for Christian Cinema affirms that this is a faith-based movie. This will be a great event for your family or a small group from church. This movie is also a great opportunity to invite someone who is not from the Christian faith. The movie is showing in many theatres such as the Coliseum Theatre (on Carling Ave.) and Barrhaven Cinemas. More details are available on the poster in the narthex.
- Budget 2014 Confirmation – The Finance Team reports the congregation committed to an operating budget of $588,091 at the Annual General Meeting on Monday February 24, 2014. This budget is an interim plan until a decision is made regarding a new minister. Watch for periodic updates from the Search Team regarding their progress. This commitment represents an average weekly giving of $11,310 for each Sunday. The budget maintained 2013 levels with minor changes in various groups. The new minister salary is estimated at 6 months. Once the Search Team is ready to present a potential candidate we will re-visit this budget item (hence the “interim” arrangement). The congregation is challenged to continue supporting the mission and outreach programs obligated by this budget – as these programs are fully funded by your contributions.
