5.    Adult Christian Ed Class – Starting this Sunday September 16 at 10:30am. The Bible is the world’s most important book. It has affected the culture, law, art and morality of nearly every society on earth. But the Bible is more than just an influential book. It is the historical record of the most important story of all time: God’s interaction with humankind. Although the Bible contains many kinds of writing and introduces us to a wide variety of characters, they all combine to tell one main story, ‘the big story’ that makes sense of all of life. You are invited to join us Sunday mornings at 10:30 in the Fireside Room as take a journey through 100 scripture passages. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to share your insights, discuss and come to your own conclusions on how the Bible’s message applies to you today – to connect your story to the ‘big story’.

13. St Paul's Website Renovation – We are currently renovating our church website. Check out www.stpaulspcottawa.com. You'll find some new features as well as features that you have relied on in the past. We hope this website will be useful to regulars at St Paul's as well as those who are curious. Let us know if you have any suggestions.

14. Finance Update – The finance team reports the financial position for the year to date ending August 31, 2012.

Giving Goal January through August   $ 370,218

Amount Given to End of August               371,172

Total Expenses                                           357,519

We give thanks to our Lord that he has provided for our program costs for the year to date.  The congregation is reminded, however, the bank covenant for the school is in place so our income must exceed our expenses when the year is done.

We are grateful for Mark Ranson’s role at St. Paul’s on the Finance Team and as an elder, as well as his service as Presbytery Treasurer.  This commitment to ministry was handed down to Mark by his Dad who died unexpectedly earlier this week in Midland.  Let’s be sure to pray for Mark, his mother Julia, brother Stephen and their families.
