1. Scripture for this Sunday – Luke 3
This Sunday Jack continues a new series of sermons from Luke’s Gospel in which we consider some of the critical moments and major turning points in the life and ministry of Jesus, reflecting on what they meant to Him and how they impact us. These are the “Milestones” that shaped Jesus’ mission and our own.
2. Soupwich this Sunday – Everyone is invited to Soupwich being held in Campbell Hall after the second service this Sunday, January 27. Please bring enough sandwiches for you and your family PLUS one extra for a guest. Bring your uncut sandwiches to the kitchen before the service so we can cut and arrange them on plates.
3. Shared Sorrow and Grateful Praise – Several St. Paul’s families have been touched by death this past week:
- Our dear friend Isobel Pitkethly died on Sunday morning at the age of 101. Isobel was a joyful Christian whose light shone brightly to the very end. Her life and faith were celebrated at a service yesterday.
- Helga Stewart, a great saint and faithful servant of Jesus died early Monday morning. She entered His presence with anticipation, joy and thanksgiving and we are grateful for her fellowship at St. Paul’s, as we still cherish her husband David’s fellowship with us. A Memorial Service is set for St. Paul’s next Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with visitation with the family from 1:00.
- Tim Rourke, Marilyn and Ed’s son, entered the Saviour’s presence last Monday at age 46. The funeral took place yesterday in Abbotsford, BC.
Let’s be in prayer for these families, asking that the message of the Resurrection will give hope and peace to each one.
4. Pioneer Sunday – on Sunday, February 3. Pioneer Clubs is a program held at St. Paul’s on Thursdays from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. for children ages 3 to 12. The children learn about God’s love through crafts, games, songs and other activities. On February 3 we will be joining churches all across Canada and the United States to celebrate Pioneer Clubs. We will share a glimpse of what we do each Thursday evening to help you see how the children are learning to put Christ in every aspect of life. We are so thankful to God and to all who make this ministry possible and we ask for your continued prayers. For more information about Pioneer Clubs at St. Paul's, please contact Janet Mabie at 613-825-5239 or jfmabie@yahoo.ca.
5. Family Fellowship – The Family Fellowship Group will meet on Sunday, February 3 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the church. All families with young children are invited for a potluck dinner and fellowship. For further information please contact Geoff Colman at 613-722-5630 or rtoppscolman@gmail.com.
6. Please Help the Youth – Once again we need help from the Small Groups at St. Paul's! We are looking for eight groups to help by providing soup, bread and clean-up services for our Friday night program at Epicentre. A sign-up sheet is available in the narthex for the available dates for any groups who are interested in helping us with this vital ministry to our youth.
