4. Interested in Baptism – If you are interested in adult or infant baptism, please contact Phil Kim in the church office. If you're interested in knowing more about baptism in the Reformed Protestant tradition, a baptism booklet is available in the narthex.
5. Weekend Getaway for University, College and Career Group – We invite all in our University, College and Career (UCC) group to a weekend getaway at a cottage from Friday, August 23 to Saturday, August 24. Get away from the city after work on Friday to relax and reconnect with God and each other. We extend a special invitation to all new First Year Students. For those interested in the getaway please contact Phil Kim at the church office.
6. Prayer Partners for University, College and Career Group – Many of our young people have graduated from the Youth Group and are now in university, college or developing careers. This is a time of excitement, challenges and many decisions for them. If you as an individual, a couple or as a small group would be willing to commit to pray for one or more of these young people this coming year, please contact Bob Hill at bobm.hill@rogers.com or 613-831-8203 or Phil Kim at philstpaul@hotmail.com.
7. Women’s CAFE (Come And Find Encouragement) – Please join us on Saturday, September 7 at 9:15 a.m. in the Fireside Room as we pray for each other and our children as they go back to school. Please contact Anne Kim at annekim_1@hotmail.com for more details.
8. Summer Refreshment Volunteers – We still could use a second volunteer to serve juice during the fellowship time after the 10:30 a.m. worship services from now up to and including September 8. Also, if people would like to bring cookies to share, they can also sign the sheet in the narthex.
9. A significant wedding anniversary – Isabel and Bill Johnston are celebrating their 68th wedding anniversary this weekend. We thank God for Isabel and Bill, for their long marriage and long association with St. Paul’s where they have faithfully served the Lord for many years. Congratulations and God’s blessings for many more happy years together.
10. Finance Team Update – With the departure of Liz (and Clinton) Evans back to England, the Finance Team has been restructured. If you’d like to know more about who’s in the finance team at St Paul’s, please click on this link.
11. Finance Update – Unfortunately the Finance Team must report the financial position for the year to date ending July 31, 2013 is not as positive as expected.
Giving Goal January through June $342,771
Amount Given to End of June 328,714
Total Expenses 365,443
Shortage – Income to Expenses – 36,730
Our contributions are behind the same period last year, and contributions are off the recommended “giving goal” trend approach. Total expenses are consistent with the $612,091 budget approved by the congregation at its annual meeting February 25, 2013. We urge the congregation to continue to prayerfully consider their contributions during this period of ministry transition. The “pre-authorized remittance” (PAR) program is an excellent method of managing your contributions during the summer vacation period. Mark Ranson and the Finance Team
