5.   Book Circle Meeting – the next meeting is on Monday, August 12 in the Fireside Room at 7:00 p.m. We will be discussing the book titled The Grand Weaver by Ravi Zacharias. In this book Ravi looks at how God uses all the situations in our lives to make us into the person He has planned for us to become. So often we see the underside, with all our failings and shortcomings but God sees the beautiful character He is creating to bring honour and glory to Him. Even if you have not read the book, we invite you to come and join our lively discussion and share your views. For further information, please contact Carol Rourke at lovemyptcruiser@rogers.com.

6.   Weekend Getaway for University, College and Career Group – We invite all in our University, College and Career (UCC) group to a weekend getaway at a cottage from Friday, August 23 to Saturday, August 24. For those interested in the getaway please contact Phil Kim at the church office.

This is a time of excitement, challenges and many decisions for them. If you as an individual, a couple or as a small group would be willing to commit to pray for one or more of these young people this coming year, please contact Bob Hill at bobm.hill@rogers.com or 613-831-8203 or Phil Kim at philstpaul@hotmail.com.

8.   A New Arrival – With great praise and thanksgiving, Angela and Anderson Asquenazi would like to announce the birth of their daughter Anna Bossan Asquenazi, on Thursday, August 8. May the Lord bless Anna and her family at this time.

9.   Summer Refreshment Volunteers – We still could use a second volunteer to serve juice during the fellowship time after the 10:30 a.m. worship services from now up to and including September 8. Also, if people would like to bring cookies to share, they can also sign the sheet in the narthex.

10. Finance Update – Unfortunately the Finance Team must report the financial position for the year to date ending July 31, 2013 is not as positive as expected.

Giving Goal January through June                     $342,771
Amount Given to End of June                                328,714
Total Expenses                                                             365,443
Shortage – Income to Expenses                            – 36,730

Our contributions are behind the same period last year, and contributions are off the recommended “giving goal” trend approach.  Total expenses are consistent with the $612,091 budget approved by the congregation at its annual meeting February 25, 2013.
We urge the congregation to continue to prayerfully consider their contributions during this period of ministry transition.  The “pre-authorized remittance” (PAR) program is an excellent method of managing your contributions during the summer vacation period. Mark Ranson and the Finance Team
