1. Ratanak Annual Bake Sale – Come be a part of our Ratanak fundraiser. We are looking for bakers and supporters. For those who can bake, please drop off your treats at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church today, Friday, November 29 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. OR at Salem Storehouse (1559 Merivale Rd.) on Saturday, November 30 between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. For those who would rather come and enjoy the goodies, we will be selling between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 30 at Salem Bookstore. All proceeds go directly to Ratanak to rescue and rehabilitate those who have been a victim of human trafficking.
2. This Sunday – We begin our Advent Season. Phil will be preaching from Matthew 1:22-23 on the theme of Hope.
3. Offering Envelopes for 2014 – The 2014 Offering Envelopes are ready for pick up in the Narthex this Sunday. Anyone who had envelope boxes of number 160 or above have been assigned new numbers. This has been done to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Effective January 1, 2014, please only use your new number as the old number will be inactive.
4. Reel Faith – You may think you have real faith but have you ever experienced Reel Faith? We will watch part 3 of a video series called “Search for the Real Jesus” this Sunday. We will meet in the sanctuary at 5 pm. This movie is a great resource for those who are curious about the Christian faith. A brochure is prepared for this Sunday. Please consider how you can invite others to this movie event.
5. Pioneer Clubs Annual Christmas Celebration – The Pioneers would like to invite their families and Prayer Pals to join us on Thursday, December 5, 2013, for our annual Christmas Celebration. Please meet with us in Campbell Hall at 6:45 (until 7:30) and help us celebrate the birth of our Savior with singing, reading of the Christmas Story, presentations by each group and snacks. This will be our last Pioneer meeting of 2013. Pioneer Clubs will resume on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 6:00 p.m.
6. Prayer Fellowship Meeting – Our next Prayer Fellowship meeting is scheduled for Saturday, December 7 at 8:00 a.m. in the Resource Room. Everyone is welcome to join us as we pray for personal concerns, members of the congregation and community, as well as national and global issues.
7. Family Fellowship – Young families with children should mark Sunday, December 8 (4:00 p.m.) on their calendars for the next Family Fellowship.
8. Emergency Appeal- The Presbyterian World Service and Development (PWS&D) is responding to the devastation in the aftermath of the typhoon that recently slammed into the Philippines. Your response will support the immediate needs of those affected. If you wish to make a donation, clearly mark your offering envelope “TYPHOON HAIYAN RELIEF”. Donations made by December 9 will be matched by the Canadian government.
9. A New Small Group On Tuesdays – Barbara and Harry Norris are interested in starting a new small group in their home in the west-end (25 Aleutian Road) on Tuesdays. They hope to start the small group on Tuesday, December 10 at 7:30 p.m. If anyone is interested, please call Barbara or Harry at 613-829-3539.
10. Senior's Luncheon – The next Seniors’ Luncheon is scheduled for Wednesday, December 11 in Campbell Hall at noon. This will be our special Christmas luncheon. More details and a sign-up sheet will be provided soon. (The November Luncheon was cancelled.)
11. Photo Updates Until Dec. 15 – St. Paul’s Photo Directory needs to be updated. If you’re happy with your photo from the 2010 Directory, then we’ll reuse that photo – no need to let us know. Memory sticks of all of your photos taken will be available for $5.00. The new Photo Directory will cost $5.00. If you are new to St. Paul’s, we strongly encourage you to come and get your photo taken as this is a great way to get to know everyone. Starting in December, photos will be taken between the services as well, so do not delay and miss this wonderful opportunity.
12.Pray for the Beatty Family – Muriel Beatty (Geoff Beatty’s Mother) passed away peacefully late on November 27 in hospice care in Richmond Hill, surrounded by family. St. Paul's mourns this loss along with family and friends of our dear Geoff and Esther Beatty, missionaries we support. Muriel was a sister of David Stewart and aunt of Evelyn Pike. A memorial service is being planned.
