7. LORD, TEACH ME TO PRAY – The focus for St Paul's this year will be "Lord, Teach Me to Pray". As the disciples asked this question to Jesus in Luke 11:1, we also ask the same question to our Lord during this year. As we learn to pray this year, one of the most important prayers to learn is the Lord's Prayer. We invite you and your family to practise the Lord's Prayer regularly with us during this year. We have new sanctuary banners reminding us of the focus this year.
8. PART TWO OF THE PRAYER WORKSHOP – Nearly thirty people attended the first prayer workshop hosted by Rob Parker Jr. last Sunday. We invite you to the second workshop led by Rob Parker Sr. on Sun. Nov. 3 at 7:00 p.m. in the Jubilee Room. This will be a continuation of the first workshop – not a repeat of the first one. We invite everyone to come and learn more about prayer.
9. LORD, TEACH ME TO PRAY… FOR MISSIONARIES – Join us in welcoming Scott and Beth Hurd from Oct. 13 – 27 as our Missionaries in Residence. This time has been set aside to promote missions, ministry abroad and evangelism, and we are encouraging everyone to learn from their experiences and challenges in serving overseas. They will be spending time with our Small Groups and Sunday School classes, and Scott will preach our Sunday message on October 20. We are grateful they are able to dedicate this time to St. Paul's and we pray God will bless us during this special time.
10. PRAYER FELLOWSHIP – Sat. Oct. 19 at 8:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome to join us in the Resource Room as we pray for personal concerns, members of the congregation and community, as well as national and global issues.
11. MISSION CRAFT NEWS – The Mission Craft Team will meet at 10:00 a.m. in the Fireside Room on Sat. Oct. 19. Anyone who would like to learn how to make a milk bag mat is invited to join us. Pillowcase Sundress Update: Patterns for the sundresses made out of pillowcases are available for anyone who would like to make one at home. These dresses are being shipped to Uganda! 12.IT’S TIME FOR YOUR PHOTO UPDATE – St. Paul’s Photo Directory is almost three years old now, so we need to update it. Starting on Sun. Oct. 20, we will be taking photos in Campbell Hall, after the 10:30 a.m. service. If you’re happy with your photo from the 2010 Directory, then we’ll re-use that photo. However, if you’d like us to update it, please drop by on Oct. 20 when you can book an appointment (or possibly have it re-taken on that day). If necessary, we will continue to book appointments for the next few Sundays. Memory sticks of all of your photos taken will be available for $5.00. The new Photo Directory will cost $5.00. If you are new to St. Paul’s, we strongly encourage you to come and get your photo taken as this is a great way to get to know everyone. We will only be taking photos for a few Sundays, so do not delay and miss the opportunity!
13.SENIORS’ LUNCHEON – Oct. 23 at noon. Our next luncheon will feature Scott and Beth Hurd as the guest speakers. Please mark the date in your calendar. More details will be available, along with a signup sheet next week.
14.UPCOMING SOUPWICH – Our first Soupwich of the season will be held in Campbell Hall on Sun. Oct. 27 after the 10:30 a.m worship service. Please bring enough sandwiches for you and your family PLUS one extra sandwich for a guest. Bring your uncut sandwiches to the kitchen BEFORE the service so we can cut and arrange them on plates. Soup will be provided. Join us for good food and warm fellowship.
15.SPONSORS NEEDED – Epicentre Student Ministry will take part in a fall retreat at Camp Iawah for youth in Grades 9-12 from Nov. 8-10. Retreats are an incredible tool for us to help teens build relationships with God, community and each other. The cost is $128.00 but we are charging $110. There are some families that still cannot afford to send their children. We feel it is a very worthwhile investment, so we are asking if there are any in the congregation who would consider covering this cost. If you are interested in sponsoring a teen, please contact Jeremy Sauvé at jeremy@epicentreyouth.ca.
16.THANK YOU FROM D. ROY KENNEDY – As you may have heard in the news, the students and staff from D. Roy Kennedy Public School evacuated to St. Paul’s on Thurs. Sept. 26 after an armed intruder entered the school. St. Paul’s served as a welcome sanctuary for the students and staff. Last Friday, the school Principal delivered a very large thank you card and a gift basket, which will be on display in Campbell Hall, to thank St. Paul’s for providing a safe refuge for their children and staff.
